Bangalore, Jan 04: China today said that it is going ahead with its manned space mission and another project to explore the moon while unveiling its future programme, that will include an eight-satellite constellation for disaster monitoring, data relay satellites and a new satellite to broadcast directly to homes.

The lunar exploration programme is in the study phase and is awaiting government approval, Guo Baozhu, vice administrator of the Chinese National Space Academy told the 'space summit' at the Indian Science Congress here. He said that China has 12 different launch vehicles, the heaviest of which can put 5.1 tonne payload in Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO). India's biggest rocket GSLV can put 1.8 tonnes in GTO.

Guo said that China would like collaboration with other nations in space science and applications.
