Mumbai, July 07: Hearing arguments briefly, a sessions court today deferred till July 9 the bail plea of dismissed CISF jawan R Namdeo, arrested on the charges of gunning down his senior and holding colleagues as hostages at the airport here recently. Observing that it was a fit case for judicial scrutiny of the investigations conducted so far, sessions judge N D Deshpande adjourned the matter to July 9 and retained with him the investigation papers.

The court also directed the investigating officer to remain present with all the documents.
Namdeo pleaded for bail on humanitarian grounds. Well-known lawyer Majeed Memon argued his case. The prosecution was represented by S B Desai.
Namdeo prayed that he was not a criminal but a disgusted employee whose terms of conditions were very stringent. He was deprived of concessions in the service and in an impulsive mood he had gunned down his senior.

Namdeo urged that he had no intention to commit the crime but had done it in a fit of rage. The act did not fall within the ambit and scope of Section 302 IPC (murder), he contended.
Namdeo said that he was totally disillusioned with the behaviour of the deputy commandant and therefore shot him dead. Instances of unrest was on rise and the court should take into the consideration the abnormality displayed by him before and after the firing, he pleaded.

Namdeo had shot dead his senior A Karanjkar and kept six colleagues hostage on may 24 in the security hold area of Sahar Terminal at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
