Nov 10: Vijay Singh was crowned the winner of the PGA Tour money list as Chad Campbell won the US Tour Championship.
Only a victory for nearest challenger Tiger Woods could have denied Singh his first Arnold Palmer Award.
Instead Campbell took his first tour title, while Singh ended joint fifth.
However, Woods did win the PGA of America Player of the Year award for a record fifth consecutive year.
Woods becomes the first player to win the Vardon Trophy five straight times for having the lowest adjusted scoring average.
The 40-year-old Singh, who has now finished in the top 10 in 11 of his last 12 events, was delighted with his achievement.
He said: "I'm really proud of what I have accomplished this year.
"Especially at my age it's a great accomplishment. I still have to improve on a lot of things, you never stop working.
"I'd like to win a major next year if I can. I had good opportunities to do well this year but never really pulled it off."
Campbell, who led by one going into the final round after a stunning third-round 61, carded a closing 68 for a 16-under-par total of 268.
The 29-year-old claimed the first prize of just over $1m after three second-place finishes earlier in the season, including the USPGA Championship.
He said: "This is what I was working for this whole year. I'm just happy to get my first win."
