Bharat Shah case reaches fag end, arguments begin
Mumbai, Aug 11: The case of alleged bollywood nexus with underworld today reached its fag end in a special court with the prosecution concluding the recording of evidence and commencing arguments on the involvement of accused including film financier Bharat Shah and producer Nasim Rizvi.

The designated Judge A P Bhangale allowed the prosecution and defence lawyers to commence arguments today. After hearing submissions from the both the sides for a couple of days, he would give the verdict, defence lawyer Vibhav Krishna said.
Prosecutor Rohini Salian addressed the court on the point of applicability of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) on the accused and described the procedure adopted by police in gathering evidence such as recording alleged telephonic conversations between accused and Pakistan-based gangster Chhota Shakeel.
It is the case of police that film ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’ was financed by Bharat Shah and produced by Nasim Rizvi at the behest of Pakistan-based gangster Chhota Shakeel.
The court had attached the film and appointed Santosh Jain as the court receiver to release the movie and receive the sale proceeds. The film fetched about Rs 12 crore after it was released in 2001.

Shah claimed that the film was financed by him and that
he had invested Rs 11 crore. He said he had agreements and
bank entries to prove his claim. He also denied involvement of
Shakeel in making the film.
