New Delhi, Mar 30: The Indian Broadcasting Foundation, the apex body of broadcasters in the country, late last evening decided to stop showing advertisements that indulge in personal attacks against any political leader.
In a meeting, the IBF, which comprises about 100 members decided unanimously that all channels will stop showing these advertisements immediately.
Earlier the Information and Broadcasting Ministry had written to the Election Commission saying that political advertisements linked to the ensuing elections should be regulated by the commission itself as they do not fall in the ambit of the Cable TV Network (Regulation) Act 1995.
