Srinagar, Aug 19: Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation employees and workers federation today called off its nine-day-old hunger strike, following intervention by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

intervention by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Mufti met a delegation of the federation this evening and assured them to examine their demands. He also informed them that he has already issued instructions to provide salary to the SRTC staff timely, an official spokesman said.
Deputy chief minister Mangat Ram Sharma, who is holding the transport portfolio, visited the striking employees and offered a glass of juice to them to end the strike.
The Chief Minister also assured to take steps to improve the financial condition of the corporation, adding that he would soon review its functioning in details and devise ways and means to improve its working. Bureau Report
