Leeds (England), Dec 09: Leeds United have denied Bahrain Sheikh Abdul Rahman Bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa has made a takeover bid for the crisis premiership club.
Sheikh Al-Khalifa, a member of the Bahraini royal family, said yesterday a consortium made up of two Saudi Arabian businessmen and an Asian company had put the offer to the Leeds board and were awaiting a response.
But a Leeds spokesman said yesterday: "We have not received an offer as yet from anybody for the business."
Leeds chief executive Trevor Birch added: "I think the Sheikh is heading a consortium. We have not had an offer but there is an intention to consider an approach from him. We will be talking to him in order to try to progress that.
"Allan Leighton has indicated he would like to put a consortium together and he is working on that but no figures have been discussed or terms talked about."

Leeds came to an agreement with their creditors last week which avoided the immediate threat of administration.

The "standstill" deal has also released four million pounds (seven million dollars) to give the club four to six weeks to find a buyer.

Leeds, which is 78 million pounds (135 million dollars) in debt, gained a reprieve from their American bond holders who are owed 60 million pounds (90 million dollars). Leeds owe a further 22 million pounds to a financing company.
