Chandigarh, Oct 30: Over 19.91 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in the Haryana mandis till yesterday, which included 16.04 lakh tonnes of leviable paddy. A spokesman of Haryana Food and Supplies Department said here today that the day's arrival was about 74,000 metric tonnes.
He said that over 8.38 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by various government agencies. The Food and Supplies Department had procured 2.02 lakh tonnes of paddy, followed by 3.57 lakh tonnes by Hafed, 1.08 lakh tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation, 80,776 tonnes by Confed, 58,068 tonnes by Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation and 30,831 tonnes by Food Corporation of India.
The millers and dealers had procured 7.66 lakh tonnes of leviable paddy and 3.87 lakh tonnes of non-leviable paddy.
He said that Kurukshetra district was leading in the state in the paddy arrival with over 4.81 lakh tonnes, followed by Karnal with 3.28 lakh tonnes, Kaithal 2.52 lakh tonnes, Fatehabad 2.46 lakh tonnes, ambala with 1.92 lakh tonnes, Sirsa 1.13 lakh tonnes and Yamunanagar 1.08 lakh tonnes.
About 1.93 lakh tonnes of bajra had also arrived in the state mandis till yesterday. Out of the total arrival of bajra, 5273 metric tonnes of bajra had been procured by miller and dealers while the remaining 1.88 lakh tonnes of bajra had been procured by various government agencies.
