Lucknow, Dec 07: The Congress today threatened to review its outside support to Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh if it acts against the principles of secularism. "We had extended outside support to Yadav only on the issue of secularism. If that is threatened, we shall review of support," UPCC president Jagadambika Pal said while speaking at a meeting organised by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) here to mark 11th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition.
“As an ally, we will like to know as to why VHP leader Praveen Togadia was allowed to proceed to Ayodhya to participate in the recent programme of the outfit in the temple town," Pal said.
"We would also like to know how it happened that the government did not have any information on the affidavit filed in the Supreme Court in the Ayodhya matter (which was later corrected)," he said.
Such acts raised questions on the secular credentials of the government, he said.
Pal said the Ram temple issue was not a religious but a political issue for BJP and its sister organisations. Bureau Report
