New Delhi, May 26: Close on the heels of the Union cabinet expansion, BJP today filled up the vacancies in its organisational team and appointed a national level campaign committee to coordinate the coming elections to the five state assemblies. While former Jharkhand chief minister Babulal Marandi has been appointed party vice-president in place of Kailashpati Mishra, who was recently made Gujarat governor, party's national secretary Shivraj Singh Chowhan has been elevated as general secretary, party president M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here briefing about the deliberations at the central office bearers' meeting at Jaipur yesterday.

Manipur party unit president Bharat Singh and Bihar state organising secretary Harinderji have been appointed secretaries in place of Chowhan and Jaskaur Meena, who was made a Minister of State in the previous reshuffle. The campaign committee with party general secretary and spokesman Pramod Mahajan as its convenor would coordinate and monitor the poll campaign in the five states, he said.


The 15-member panel also includes Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Anant Kumar, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Jual Oram to take care of Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Mizoram respectively. Among the general secretaries taking care of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and Delhi are Pramod Mahajan, Sanjay Joshi, Babulal Marandi and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi respectively.

The panel also includes party leaders Anita Arya, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Balbir Punj, Ramdas Aggarwal, and Prakash Jawdekar, Naidu said.
