retrofit programme of its Boeing 747-400s as part of a major
revamp of its first and business class sections for its long
haul flights to London-Paris and New York-Chicago-Newark.
The airline is expected to refurbish and install the new Sleeperettes, 180-degrees flat bed seats supplied by Eads Sogerma services of France, in its seven Boeing 747-400 aircraft, including one leased from Korean air last week, by March next year, airline's public relations director Jeetendra Bhargava told newspersons here. "The new first class will provide the competitive edge and we intend to continue with a three class layout only, he said adding that with the new product launch, AI would do away with the companion free offer and upgrading of passengers.
Bhargava said AI was the only airline which offered a direct service to us without a change of aircraft. The new thrice a week service to Newark is to be launched next week.
