EC would reduce the number of identification documents
Tranquebar, Apr 17: The Election Commission would, in phases, reduce the number of identification documents that it had recognised as valid for voting, once all the voters were issued with the photo identity cards, Election Commissioner T S Krishnamurthy said today.

Krishnamurthy also praised Pondicherry Chief Electoral
Officer Vijayan, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Yasam and
Karaikal's regional administrator Babu, for their commendable
work of issuing 99.5 per cent of the electorate in Pondicherry
including Karaikal region with pictures.
He also said that in the neighbouring Tamil Nadu, sixty
per cent voters.
