New Delhi, July 28: The Supreme Court today extended
its earlier order allowing the three Europe-based Hinduja
brothers to go abroad together till August 27, the day when
the trial in the Bofors case is scheduled to restart.
A bench comprising Justice M B Shah and Justice A R Lakshmanan, however, kept the application of the Hindujas pending to discuss as to why the trial in the case had not been carried out expeditiously despite the apex court orders.
The bench said it would hear the application on August 29 after acceding to the request of Hinduja's counsel to allow the three brothers to go abroad together till the re-commencement of trial on August 27. The trial of the case was adjourned as the Delhi High Court, hearing appeals filed by Hindujas challenging the trial court order framing charges against them, had summoned the trial court records.
