Lucknow, Aug 16: The BJP legislators have demanded Deputy Chief Ministership for senior party leader Lalji Tandon in the BSP-BJP coalition government of Mayawati. A memorandum signed by 92 legislators was submitted to BJP President Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi on Thursday and his response was positive, Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, a legislator supporting the demand, claimed here today. Singh said a copy of the memorandum was also submitted at the office of the Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani. The legislators are of the view that on the pattern of Maharashtra, the Deputy Chief Minister post should be given to the coalition partner, Singh said, adding that they would, however, abide by the decision of the party high command in this regard.
To a question whether the legislators planned to press the demand, Singh said the MLAs have apprised the high command of their view and now it was left to the senior leaders to take a final decision.
