Singapore, May 18: A hotel is throwing open its 61 rooms for free next Saturday in a bid to outdo all promotions since the SARS outbreak started in early March, managers said.
The Sijori Resort Sentosa will be handing out room keys to guests on May 24 on a first-come-first-serve basis for a one-night day.
The first five will get suites which include a jacuzzi, Marcus Chan, the hotel's events manager, said yesterday.
With expectations that Singaporeans will camp overnight to secure the best rooms, rangers on the resort island of Sentosa will be on hand to control the crowd.
The city-state is anxious to bring back tourism which amounts to 5.7 billion U.S. Dollars annually.

Chan said the hotel is spending 8,000 Singapore dollars (4,500 U.S.) on the promotion.
