Jaisalmer, June 22: In its efforts to tackle infiltration from across the border in a more effective way, the Border Security Force (BSF) is arming itself with sophisticated gadgets and a new fencing technique, a top BSF official said today.
The force would be provided with thermal imagers, sensors and advanced cameras to keep a close vigil on the border, inspector general, BSF , Rajasthan-Gujarat frontier, S N Jain, said.
Jain said a new fencing technique tried in Shahgarh Bulge area on the border in Jaisalmer district had proved successful in shifting sand dunes situations. The open border in the Shahgarh Bulge area would now be fenced with the new technique, he said. Asked about heavy concentration of civil population in border areas in Jaisalmer, Barmer and Bikaner districts, he said it was not alarming.

Villages and hamlets had been there on the border in Barmer and Jaisalmer districts since a long time and there had been no expansion of these habitats.

However, vigil was being maintained on the new villages being colonised in the Indira Gandhi canal areas in Jaisalmer and Bikaner ditrict, he added.

Jain also visited forward posts of the BSF during his visit.
