About 13,000 coalition forces, including 8,000 us soldiers, are in Afghanistan hunting down Taliban and al-Qaeda fugitives and searching for renegade rebel leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and his loyalists. Western intelligence sources and afghan authorities suspect the fugitives and rebels have joined forces to attack coalition troops.
