Panaji, Oct 19: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has directed dealers and shopkeepers in Goa not to sell a particular stock of a brand of chocolate made by Cadburys which was manufactured prior to June 2003, till it was certified ``fit for human consumption.`` FDA Director S N Tripthi said here that they had sealed confectionery stocks worth Rs five lakh from Panaji, Mapusa, Margao and Ponda in the state after a laboratory test had revealed that one of the six samples of chocolates taken from Panaji and Mapusa by the FDA was worm-infested.
Twenty other samples had been sent for preparing analytical reports.
Tripathi further said various angles were being probed to find out the exact cause of the adulteration of chocolates. He said since the matter was in the initial stage, it could not be stated whether the adulteration had occurred at the manufacturing stage or at the storage points.
