India may scrap the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan in the event of a war with the neighbouring country, minister of state for water resources Bijoya Chakraborty said on Friday.
If Pakistan resorts to war with India, we will examine all options, even scrapping the treaty, Chakraborty told reporters on the sidelines of an ASSOCHAM meeting. She said there is no immediate possibility of scrapping the treaty but added, I do not know what will be the stand on Saturday.
Everything will depend on what Pakistan does. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, the minister added. Asked about Thursday's meeting held between the two sides on the Indus Water Treaty, she said it was a routine one.
