New Delhi, Nov 19: Keeping up the heat on Chhattisgarh administration in the run up to the assembly polls, the Election Commission today ordered immediate transfer of Bilaspur Collector R P Mandal for "failing" to effectively enforce the model code of conduct. The Commission gave a directive to this effect to the Chief Secretary to Chhattisgarh government, EC sources said.
Meanwhile, the Commission has approved the name of Shailesh Kumar Pathank to be posted as new District Collector of Jashpur and sought a fresh panel of names for selection of District Collector of Bastar.
The collectors of both the districts were shifted by EC recently for violating of model code of conduct.
In an unprecedented step, the Commission on November 17 had sought the intervention of the state governor in the transfer of District Collectors of Bastar and Jashpur in order to ensure free and fair elections in the two districts.
Both the collectors have been relieved by the state government today at the intervention of the Governor.
