Chennai, Nov 29: BJP today denied there was infighting and dissension’s in its Gujarat unit over the nomination of party tickets to contest the assembly polls there.
BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu told a press conference here that the party's state election committee had recommended only one name for 178 constituencies and differences were only with regard to six seats, which has been resolved now.
Out of the 18 members of the dissolved house who had been denied the party ticket, only two had filed their papers as independents and efforts were on to convince them also to withdraw, he said.
He expressed the hope that the party would get two thirds majority in the Gujarat polls.
He said Congress owed an explanation to the people of the country why its president Sonia Gandhi should visit Oxford to address a seminar organised by the Islamic Study Centre, which was allegedly being funded by the members of the dreaded terrorist Osama bin Laden.
