After star-studded electioneering in Uttar Pradesh and parts of Punjab in the on-going assembly polls, it could be the turn of Gujarat to witness similar campaign with ace television star Mukesh Khanna all set to take a plunge into the heat and dust of politics to seek votes for chief minister Narendra Modi's maiden electoral battle. I am going to Gujarat tomorrow to campaign for Modi, Khanna, who hopes to cash on his small screen image of 'Bhisma Pitamaha' and 'desi superman Shaktiman', told reporters.
Modi is seeking election to the state assembly in the February 21 by-poll from Rajkot-II Assembly segment.
Khanna said he has been to UP already to campaign for BJP and found the mood quite encouraging.
To a question on film and television stars shouldering the lion's share of the campaign trail this year, he said that may be political parties do not have any issue and are looking forward to stars to attract the crowd. Govinda's dance or say my presence will definitely bring in larger crowd, said Khanna.
However, he justified his decision to join BJP and also campaign for the party, saying after all in today's situation, only Atal Bihari Vajpayee can lead the nation.
Asked which image of his -- Bhisma Pitamaha (of Mahabharat) or Shaktiman of the children's serial – was more acceptable to the people, he said I carry a bit of both, telling 'Ayushman Bhava' to some and talking like a desi superman to others.
