Madurai Sept 04: Former Australian captain Greg Chappell has taken time out from his busy schedule to bat for People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), an NGO fighting against cruel treatment of animals.
"Don't juggle with your health" and "go vegetarian", says the former bastman in coloured advertisement feature brought out by PETA, according to a press release here today.
Chappell is recommending vegetarianism for everyone from athletes to businessmen and claims that his"vegan" diet had improved his health. "Giving up meat and dairy products in favour of healthier foods, including soya and vegetables has actually made me feel stronger and healthier," he says in the release.
"We are the only species of animal on earth who still consume milk products after being weaned. Dairy milk is a perfectly balanced food for calves and nothing else," he said. Chappell has now joined Anil Kumble and American tennis star Martina Navratilova who have appeared in PETA advertisements promoting "healthful veggie foods", the release said. Bureau Report
