CM, predecessor to fight from same seat in Mizoram
Aizawl, Nov 01: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga and his predecessor and state Congress chief Lal Thanhawla are fighting each other for the Champhai seat in the November 20 assembly election.
Aizawl, Nov 01: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga and his predecessor and state Congress chief Lal Thanhawla are fighting each other for the Champhai seat in the November 20 assembly election.
Election office sources said while Zoramthanga, a candidate of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) had filed his papers yesterday, Lalthanhawla submitted his papers today.
Both the leaders, however, would also contest from second seats. Zoramthanga would file his second nomination from Kolasib constituency, Lalthanhawla from Serchhip seat on Monday, MNF and Congress sources said.
Other prominent leaders who had filed nominations were state assembly Speaker R Lalawia for Khawhai constituency, Mizoram People's Conference (MPC) chief, Lalhmingthanga, for Lunglei South constituency and Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP) president, Lalduhawma, from Ratu and Aizawl South-II constituencies.
