Bhopal, July 04: The CBI has busted a major transport racket, running into crores of rupees, in the traffic department of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). Initial findings made during the CBI raids that began on Wednesday revealed that bogus payment of over Rs 25 crore had been made to transporters, CBI source said.
The agency sleuths raided the godowns of Barnala Industries and Prabhat Industries at Govindpura Industrial Estate at BHEL township and found a large number of heavy electricals equipment which, on paper, had been dispatched to the concerned parties, the sources said adding, several more items, that had been despatched last year on paper, are also lying in godowns.
The CBI officials also seized documents from BHEL's traffic department indicating involvement of senior officials.
