New Delhi, Dec 10: The lathicharge on farmers in the Capital rocked the Lok Sabha today with almost all political parties, including NDA partners, demanding immediate suspension of concerned police officials and an enquiry by a house committee.

Even as the government regretted the police action and assured the agitated members that those arrested would be released immediately, deputy prime minister L K Advani said that he would come with a detailed report on yesterday's incident before the house adjourned for the day. Police lathicharged, burst teargas shells and used water cannons yesterday to disperse farmers from Bihar, led by JD(U) leader Devendra Prasad Yadav, protesting government inaction to check regular occurrence of drought and floods in the state, agitated members said. Yadav, who was injured in the lathicharge, showed his wounds to the house and said that eight persons were arrested from his residence this morning, evoking vociferous protests from Opposition members who were joined by Samata Party members.
