Pune, Nov 03: The Centre has given a green signal to a joint venture project to supply Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for automobiles in Pune, Union Petroleum Minister Ram Naik said.
"The Centre has approved the joint venture between Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Gas Authority of India for supply of gas to the city," Naik said here yesterday.
This would make Pune an important destination for oil and gas companies and the city would join the ranks of Delhi and Mumbai, he said adding, the project would be set up in two phases. The gas will be supplied to the city by extending GAIL's Dhej-Uran pipelines to Pune, Naik added.
