Mumbai, Nov 04: Pages of history came alive today as the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles, visited the erstwhile Victoria terminus and had a first hand view of one of the most bustling train terminus in the country.
The huge brown-stoned structure with its meticulously
trimmed and well-maintained lawns attracted the attention of
the Prince, who spent some time viewing the building and
taking in the scenic beauty.
The British heir also took a tour around a section of the building and closely examined the dome of the Chhatrapati Shivaji terminus building, which has now become a significant landmark of the bustling metropolis.
The Prince, known to be lover of ancient art and architecture, displayed a keen interest in the rare exhibits up for display at the heritage room and keenly listened to the briefing on the artefacts by railway personnel.
Outside on the station, a huge crowd, stood waiting in eager anticipation of meeting the `British Yuvraj'. Armed with cameras, video cameras, the crowd waited patiently to have a glimpse of the royal visitor.
As the Prince stepped into the stations, a sea of hands waved earnestly.
Despite a strict security cordon thrown around, the Prince managed to reach a section of the crowd and shook hands with many disbelieving passengers.
The Prince, who wore a white shawl, over his blue suit waved to the crowd and interacted with the railway personnel on the station. Bureau Report
