New Delhi, Sept 05: The hip and happening city crowd got yet another chance to party on a weekday. This past Tuesday evening saw the capital’s swish set flaunting their diamonds and Christian Dior bags at Bina Modi’s private party at Ego Thai, New Friends Colony.
The do was to celebrate the opening of the new lounge bar at the restaurant and also Modi’s friendship with Veena Aggarwal, CEO, Maharani Enterprises. Aggarwal, who was in the city for her jewellery exhibition, was more than touched by the sweet gesture made by her childhood friend. “Our friendship goes back a long way. I guess it’s been almost 40 years since we have known each other,” she remembered.
Dressed sassily in a psychedelic print halter was her daughter Shibani, who is the executive director and head of design, Maharani Jewellers. But it was the effervescent veejay-turned-actress-turned-singer Raageshwari Loomba who looked gorgeous in a bright coloured Anamika Khanna kurti. In town as the ambassador of Maharani Jewellers’ new line of jewellery, Flowers of India, Loomba happily talked about her school days at Auxilium School, Mumbai. “Those were some of the best days of my life. I was completely like a stand by joker for my school-mates who were always in fits of laughter each time I went to perform.”
Well, she did manage to make more people laugh later on in life when she donned the mantle of a veejay. And even today, the bubbly Loomba can get people into fits of laughter.

Among those seen letting their hair down to some great music, wine and Thai starters were Shalini Passi, wife of Pasco Motors Sanjay Passi, who was engrossed in a serious conversation with Shefali Munjal.

As the party rolled on, one overheard Veena Aggarwal recommending the awesome Thai massage at Ego Thai. “It works wonders and is something that cannot be missed,” she exclaimed.

Apart from the new lounge bar, people have another reason to drop in at Ego Thai.
