Srinagar, Dec 27: The BSF has foiled Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba's plans to trigger a series of explosions in north Kashmir, recovering a major haul of ten prepared IEDs and other subversive materials after it busted a hideout of the outfit. The hideout was unearthed by the troops of 191 battalion during an operation at Katyawali village near Kandi in Baramulla district on Thursday night, a BSF spokesman said on Friday.
Besides the ten ready-to-use improvised explosive devices (IED), weighing two kg each, the search party also recovered two pistol silencers, three rocket boosters, two remote control devices, two kg of explosives, 14 detonators, two hand-grenades, three wireless antennae and five magazines from the hideout, the spokesman said.
He said this was for the first time in the decade long militancy in the valley that the troops recovered remote control devices having a range of 500 metres.
The BSF had received information that militants were planning to trigger a series of explosions in Pattan and Baramulla areas and have launched a special drive to foil the militants plan, the spokesman said, adding, the recovery was the result of this drive. Bureau Report
