Moga, June 14: Former Punjab education minister and senior sad leader Tota Singh was today picked up by vigilance sleuths and taken to some undisclosed destination for questioning reportedly in connection with irregularities in teacher's recruitment during his tenure in the Parkash Singh Badal cabinet, vigilance sources said. The former minister was picked up from the local sub-jail complex which he visited to meet some Akali activists lodged there, they said. A heavy police deployment was made at the complex ahead of Singh's visit.

Singh's gunmen have been directed to report back in the police station here and deposit their weapons, they said. Meanwhile, repeated attempts to contact senior officials of police and civil administration proved futile.

A relative of Singh said the former minister has been taken away by vigilance sleuths to some unknown place.

Singh is an MLA and member of political affairs committee (PAC) of the SAD. Bureau Report
