Agartala, Sept 07: Three insurgents including two of Bru National Liberation Front (BNLF) and one belonging to banned All Tripura Tiger Forces (ATTF) have been killed in separate encounters in Tripura, police said today. Acting on a tip-off, a team of special police officers (SPO) raided Damcherra area of North Tripura district yesterday to bust a hideout of the BNLF insurgents, the police said.
The forces were fired upon when they approached the hideout and a gunbattle ensued there but the ultras managed to escape from the spot under the cover of forest. Bodies of two BNLF ultras were recovered from the encounter site and one of the slain insurgents was identified as Kebrai Reang.
Two others identified as Kantarai Reang and Longrtara Reang were arrested and rupees 12,000 and other documents wee recovered from their possession, the police added. In a separate incident, an insurgent of the banned ATTF was killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles jawans at Sangarapara village of West Tripura district yesterday, police said.
The insurgent was identified as Parimal Debbarama who was involved in subversive activities in the area, the police said. Bureau Report
