Shillong, July 24: Assam Rifles confiscated 650 kgs of 'ganja' worth Rs four lakh near a village in Manipur's Ukhrul district bordering Myanmar. Troops of 20 Assam Rifles confiscated the contraband near Tora village in the district on Tuesday last. The 'consignment' was found stacked into 35 cubicle blocks covered in polythene and was being "discreetly" ferried in two jeeps to Dimapur, AR sources said here today.

On seeing the AR patrol party, the occupants of the vehicles fled the scene leaving behind the narcotics which were later handed over to the police.
In September last year, the same battalion had confiscated 1,910 kg of ganja in the area.
