New Delhi, Mar 26: The Supreme Court today dismissed an
application of former Punjab Public Service Commission chairman
Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu challenging grant of pardon to two of his
co-accused in the job-for-money scam and making them prosecution
witnesses.
A bench of justice K G Balakrishnan and justice B N Srikrishna
dismissed the application at the notice stage itself saying there
was no merit in it.
The court said it was the prerogative of the prosecution to decide whether a co-accused could help it prove its case. The prosecution had made co-accused Prem Sagar and Randhir Singh Dheera approvers in the case and the trial court had accordingly granted pardon to them.
Sidhu, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore job-for-money scam in March 2002, had recently been granted bail by the apex court. Bureau Report
