Advani hosts `Chhath` Puja
New Delhi, Oct 30: It was all music, song and dance at Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani`s residence today as large number of people from Bihar and eastern states descended here for the `Chhath` (sun) Puja hosted by him.
As offerings were made to propitiate the Sun God and other forces of nature, Advani, along with his family, Cabinet ministers and BJP leaders, was treated to a feast of folk
songs and dances in the accompaniment of dhols (drums) by artists from Bihar.
Receiving the basket containing fruits and grains for the puja, being held for the first time at his residence, Advani said, "All major festivals of India are celebrated in a big way
in Delhi but not chhath. Today we have made a beginning."
He said the offerings would be made at a puja on the banks of River Yamuna in the evening.
BJP leaders Madan Lal Khurana, Sahib Singh Verma, V K Malhotra and Union ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Shahnawaz Hussein also took part in the festivities.
