There was just one wicket for the Indians in two sessions of play on Friday, that of Mahela Jayawardene, but not before the batsman had made a big hundred. His overnight partner Hashan Tillekaratne became the third Sri Lankan to score a century in this innings and was still going strong on 112.
At the break, Sri Lanka had taken a 299-run lead over India`s first innings score of 234. Tilan Samaraweera joined in the run plunder and was unbeaten on 50 in his debut test. It was a frustrating two sessions for the Indians with captain Saurav Ganguly using all his tricks, even bowling Sadgopan Ramesh, but without luck.

With the Indians looking down and dejected, runs flowed freely for Sri Lanka who hardly looked troubled. Jayawardene and Tillekaratne and later Samaraweera played comfortably and negotiated all the Indian bowlers with ease.
