New Delhi, June 11: India is considering sending its High Commissioner back to Islamabad as part of its calibrated steps to de-escalate the current tension with Pakistan. Official sources said on Tuesday that Harsh Bhasin, India`s High Commissioner-designate to Pakistan, is "preparing" himself for his assignment in place of Vijay Nambiar, who was recalled on December 21 last year following the terrorist attack on Parliament. Bhasin has recently returned from New York.

The sources said no official word has yet gone to Islamabad on Bhasin though the government is considering sending him there.

An External Affairs Ministry spokesperson had said an emphatic "no" on Monday when asked whether India had taken a decision to send back its High Commissioner to Islamabad. Bureau Report
