INS Prabal, an indigenously built missile vessel, will be commissioned by Defence Secretary Yogendra Narain on Thursday at Mumbai.
The ship, whose name is synonymous with the fire power packed into it, is an upgraded version of the six missile vessels commissioned in the 90's, armed with a number of surface-to-surface missiles, an official release said in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The ship has also been provided with a 76 mm combined surface and anti-aircraft gun and better radars and electronic warfare equipment, the release said.
The ship will be administered under the Flag Officer Commander-in-Chief, Western Naval Command, and will be based at Mumbai. Bureau Report
