Jammu, June 18: BJP today took exception to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's assertion that poll results showed people of Jammu region had rejected all political parties which stood for reorganisation of the state polity on a regional basis saying the PDP chief was "blissfully ignorant about the nature and significance of the verdict". "The BJP would like to tell the chief minister and his colleagues that an overwhelming majority of voters in Jammu region had voted in favour of those parties which contested the elections in the name of Jammu and held out promises which ranged from statehood to regional council to regional development board," state BJP spokesman Hari Om said.

The share of votes of such political outfits in the 2002 assembly elections was 54.10 per cent of the total votes polled, he claimed in a statement here. He said the BJP hoped Sayeed would take cognizance of the nature of the Jammu verdict and undertake measures, which give to the people of the region a definite political instrument invested with legislative, executive and financial powers.
