New Delhi, May 25: In a bid to end the DMK-Congress stand off over portfolio allocation, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao today met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and offered to relinquish the shipping ministry being sought by the Karunanidhi led party. Rao, told reporters after his meeting with Singh that he requested the Prime Minister to "reallocate" the portfolio.
The Prime Minister expressed happiness over the sacrifice he was ready to make, the TRS chief said.
Union minister and DMK representative Dayanidhi Maran and finance minister P Chidambaram had a meeting with the Prime Minister soon after Rao met him.
Emerging from the meeting at 7, Race Course Road, Rao told reporters that the issue raised with DMK "appears to be over" following the offer made by him. He said, “Portfolios are not priority. To run a secular government for the benefit of the people is.”

"You are yogi in politics," Rao quoted the Prime Minister as having told him during the meeting.
Rao said he had told the Prime Minister to re-allocate his shipping portfolio as "it is the prerogative of the Prime Minister".
"Last night, I met Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the issue of DMK demanding shipping ministry. For the sake of stability of this government, I asked the Prime Minister to re-allocate his portfolio. I am not after power or position. I only want a separate Telengana," he said.
