Islamabad, Aug 11: Saying "conflicts are unthinkable in this modern century," Pakistan's President today called for a peaceful resolution of all issues with India, including the Kashmir dispute. ``Pakistan will do its best to follow the track of peace and dialogue to resolve all disputes with India,'' President Pervez Musharraf said at the inauguration of a seminar on South Asia.
``When we say all disputes, it certainly includes the core issue of Kashmir,'' he said.
Musharraf made his remarks in the same hotel where a peace conference was being held between Pakistani and Indian lawmakers and journalists. Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee kicked off that conference yesterday with a written statement calling for an end to bloodshed between the bitter nuclear-armed rivals.
``Pakistan also desires peace for the benefit of the people in Pakistan and India,'' Musharraf said, adding that he hoped the conference would be a success.
``I am extremely happy that the Indian delegates are in Pakistan,'' he said. Musharraf spoke before representatives of the United States, Russia, China, Japan and India - all present at the seminar. He said that Pakistan wants peace with its giant neighbor.
``We are against conflicts.... Conflicts are unthinkable in this modern century,'' he said. Bureau Report
