Nasik lady clerk remanded to police custody till June 17
Nasik, June 14: The lady clerk, attached to the police commissioner`s office here, from whose house the skeleton of an old woman and the decomposed body of a seven-year-old girl was recovered, was today remanded to police custody till June 17.
Nasik, June 14: The lady clerk, attached to the police commissioner's office here, from whose house the skeleton of an old woman and the decomposed body of a seven-year-old girl was recovered, was today remanded to police custody till June 17.
Police Commissioner P T Lohar told reporters that Meenakshi Sudhir Mallapure (45), arrested yesterday, was produced before a local court, which remanded her to police custody.
The police had recovered the decomposed her mother Malatibai Maruti Koppikar (78) and her daughter Arpita Sudhir Mallapure (7) in the storeroom of her house. Meenakshi's mother died on October 15, 1996 and daughter on January 22, 2001, Lohar said. The bodies were recovered after some of her colleagues went to her house on June 12 to see why Meenakshi was not attending her office for the past 45 days.
Police also recovered from her house black-dolls, fish, dried-lemons and covers of used eggs, items generally associated with witchcraft, Lohar added. An offence of murder was registered against Meenakshi yesterday. Bureau Report
