Shimla, Feb 09: BJP today demanded that Congress clarify its stand on the Jammu and Kashmir government's policy of releasing political prisoners.

"Terrorism is an important issue for Himachal as it is very close to Jammu and Kashmir and the Congress leaders have a responsibility to spell out its stand on Pota and terrorism before the people," Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.
He said that the NDA government had effectively fought terrorism and proved its point that Pakistan was the "international epicentre" of terrorism. He said that the successful conduct of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir was another feather in its cap.

Prasad said that disclosures by two Hurriyat activists arrested in New Delhi that they received financial help from the Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan was "a very serious matter".
Referring to the assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh, Prasad said that the Congress was "fighting shy" of discussing development issues and was raking up non-issues to launch a vilification campaign.

He strongly condemned the reported charges levelled by Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh against his Himachal counterpart P K Dhumal.

Prasad said that Himachal had seen spectacular development over the past five years which had been made possible due to liberal financial aid from the Centre.
