New Delhi, June 22: The Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) today said Indian firms can benefit from the eight billion dollar worth of IT expenditure estimated for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, by the Chinese government.
"The Prime Minister's visit would create an enabling
situation for Indian IT companies to make forays into the it
requirements of China particularly relating to holding of
Olympic Games," ESC said in a statement.
The IT market in China was growing at the rate of 32 per cent per annum and was driven by hardware and personal computer which the Indian software companies will have to keep in mind while planning to penetrate the market there.
Of the 5000 software development companies in China, about 2000 are involved in software development research and sales while the rest are in software related businesses and information services, it said.
China was focussing on computer and English education from primary school for entering into the software markets in English speaking countries including UK, USA and Australia, it said, adding, the country also expected a radical digital transformation in next 5-6 years when they would require a huge manpower for its software operation.
Chinese firms were mostly engaged in systems integration work for government offices and state-owned enterprises, it said, adding, the government was supporting research in key technologies including microelectronics, digital technology, software engineering and network technology.
