Mumbai, May 04: The foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers in equities and debt at Rs 430.3 crore (USD 90 million) and Rs 562.2 crore (USD 118.1 million) respectively in April. Mutual funds, on the other hand, netted sales of Rs 177.19 crore in equities and made net investments in debt at Rs 1,751.47 crore in first month of this fiscal, according to the data available with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) here.
The foreign funds bought and sold equities worth Rs 441.5 crore and Rs 186.6 crore respectively for April 16, thus netting the highest inflows of the reporting month at Rs 227.9 crore (USD 47.8 mn) followed by Rs 116.8 crore (USD 24.5 mn) for April 29. FIIs recorded a net highest new outflows in equities at Rs 287.6 crore (USD 60.8 million) and Rs 278.9 crore (USD 58.5 mn) for April 11 and April 10 respectively, it said.
In debt segment, FIIs did not participate in trading on 12 days. They bought and sold securities worth Rs 438.6 crore and Rs 96.8 netting inflow of Rs 341.8 crore for April 28. MFs recorded highest net investments in equities at Rs 159.22 crore and Rs 30.32 crore on April 11 and April 4.
MF posted maximum outflow at Rs 206.13 crore and Rs 52.93 crore on April 17 and April 10 respectively.
On the debt front, mutual funds netted inflows of Rs 209.03 crore and Rs 201.04 crore on April 8 and April 10. The posted a highest outflows of Rs 71.96 crore on April 29.
