Goa govt signs MoU with IIT Mumbai
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed at Panaji, on Monday, between the Goa government and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai, to explore the possibilities for collaborative activities in different areas of mutual interest, including setting up of mechanisms for the upgradation of quality and level of technical education in the state.

This was announced by the chief minister Manohar Parrikar and the IIT Director Ashok Misra at a joint press conference in Panaji.
The MoU, signed by the Institute with any state government for the first time, provides for the development of facilities for e-communication and Internet access in Konkani and Marathi languages, Misra said. Setting up of distance education and e-learning facility and establishment of technology incubator programme for promotion of entrepreneurship in high technology areas as also an extended campus of the institute in Goa comprised the areas of collaborative activities, he said.
Parrikar said that the agreement reached with the IIT was for a period of five years and the entire cost, worked out to Rs 11 crore, will be shared by the state government and Goa Engineering College. Bureau Report
