The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) have been
accused of killing over 30 rival Tamils and military
informants since a bilateral truce with the government went
into effect on February 23 last year.
Police said a man arrested yesterday, together with another who attempted suicide by swallowing cyanide, had indicated they were on a mission to kill an army soldier working for military intelligence. The man took the cyanide in a bid to avoid capture when his taxi was stopped by police for a routine check in the capital, police said. Bureau Report
