Guwahati, Nov 08: World champions Australia today
arrived here to play their triangular series One-Day
international cricket match against New Zealand tomorrow at
the Nehru Stadium.
The team led by its Captain Ricky Ponting flew in from
Delhi and were immediately whisked away in a special bus
amidst tight security to a city hotel.
The Aussies were received in a traditional manner by the
Assam Cricket Association officials at the Lokapriya Gopinath
Bordoloi International Airport where fans lined up to get a
glimpse of the kangaroos, who are already through to the
final of the Tri-Series to be played in Eden Gardens.
Meanwhile, heavy security arrangements have been put in
place by the Assam Police as per cricket board's (BCCI)
guidelines for the November nine One-Dayer with two hotels
where the teams would stay, the stadium and the two-km stretch
leading to the Nehru Stadium sanitised.
The mediamen had also been barred from taking their
mobile telephones inside the stadium as all the facilities for
transmitting news would be provided from the Stadium Complex.
The New Zealand team is already here and is expected to take the nets during afternoon to be joined by the Australians later at the stadium.
