Dhaka, Oct 01: A nine-year old boy was electrocuted when he went swimming in a pond charged by a fallen power line and three of his relatives also died while trying to save him, police today said. The boy's mother, and later two of his uncles, were electrocuted when they plunged into the electrified water in rescue attempts.

The accident happened yesterday in the industrial town of Siddhirganj outside the capital Dhaka. The victims apparently were unaware about the high-voltage electricity wire that snapped and fell into the small pond, a police official said on condition of anonymity.

The bodies were recovered from the pond after engineers switched off the area's main power line.

Authorities have ordered engineers to find how the live wire snapped. Bureau Report
