Though Indian Railways had announced gauge conversion Munabao -- the last station on the Indian side of the International Border today wears a deserted look as no activity was initiated by either governments, official sources said here.
"Munabao needs atleast cleansing on a war footing, prior to any other civil work," the sources said.
Though efforts were being made to restore the rail service, people in the area still doubt its reopening due to their own apprehensions, a Panchayat Samiti spokesman said.
Pepole in Shiv Tehsil, 125 km from here were sceptical over the "revival of life" in the region, but for the movement of BSF troops. After the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the entire area surrounding Munabao has been uninhabitated except for the presence of BSF units.
